Dwayne robbins is the worlds most hilarious Motivational Magician. Of course, he's probably the only one, but this uniqueness and originality is why he's sure to bring the house down at your next corporate event. David Brent of the Office" (Inpress) Dwayne combines the awesome power of positive thinking and magic tricks to create the most energetic and amazing comedy act. Specifically designed for corporate functions, your audience will immediately relate to Dwayne's pseudo-advice and pop psychology.
What's involved in the Dwayne Robbins Experience?
Perfect for events where you want to involve specific people from your audience, Dwayne can select your guest of honour or VIP to help out up on stage. For example, to help someone overcome their limiting beliefs Dwayne asks them to sign a playing card and shuffle it into the deck. The deck is then blasted into the air with a compressed air cannon and, as the cards flutter down, Dwayne finds the selected card by tossing a knife and pinning the chosen card to a target. The twist is that the target is held by the audience member in question and that he must catch the knife on the board; thereby learning, in the spirit of a self-help seminar that anything is possible and that he is now able to go out and succeed in the business world! Of course, even though this stunt looks rather dangerous, and hence extremely entertaining, it is totally safe.
As you can tell from the above example, the Dwayne Robbins Experience is a very visual comedy show, with lots of magic tricks and sight gags. As one reviewer said about Dwayne sell out shows at the Melbourne Fringe Festival it is "a wonderful parody of the self-help industry that was delivered with plenty of colour and movement to keep us thoroughly entertained". When Dwayne first makes his appearance, jumping on stage and blasting fireballs from his hands, it takes a little while for the audience to realise that it's a joke. But once he starts to interact with the audience and impart his condescending and ridiculous advice it becomes pretty clear that they are about to see one of the funniest hoax speakers ever.
Volunteers love coming up on stage and having Dwayne burn their money, pickpocket their watches and tactlessly inform them that they are losers who need his help. One of the most common bits of audience feedback is how close Dwayne is to a real motivational speaker and how much people in the corporate sector appreciate this parody as an antidote to some of their more unpopular training sessions.

The performer behind Dwayne Robbins
Dwayne Robbins is he creation of actor and writer, Ashley Barnett, one of Melbourne's most popular young cutting edge magicians and stand-up comics. A regular performer, in one of his many guises, at the various comedy and magic nights around Melbourne, Ashley is in even more demand as an entertainer at private parties and corporate events.
Before going into comedy full time, Ashley worked as a management consultant specialising in decision theory, for Austhink Consulting where he did training courses for Australia's top firms, defence organisations and the government sector; all of which was great research material for the Dwayne Robbins act.
Ashley first performed at the 2008 fringe festival, to sell out shows. It was so popular that repeated his performance at the 2009 Melbourne Comedy Festival.
